GREAT NEWS!!!

Hello all. We have just received some wonderful news! Dad has been cleared to leave the hospital and travel home! When we arrived at the hospital today, the neurologist and the head of the medical team were in visiting with dad and relayed to us the good news! He is stable and has made great progress and they are planning to discharge him later this afternoon. Praise God!

We are working on finding a way to get back home right now. We hope to be able to secure a flight for either today or tomorrow. Once we know more about our travel plans, we will pass them along.

I have one request-- whatever you are doing right now, please stop, take a moment and lift up a prayer of thanksgiving to God for the work that He has performed this week. We know we still have a long road ahead, but this is a big milestone and it was all made possible by God's grace and mercy.

Also, please begin to pray for our travel. First for us to be able to secure flights and secondly that dad will be able to travel without incident.

Thank you all for your prayers, love and support. We feel so good knowing that we have a wonderful family in all of you. I'll post more a little later, but for now, THANK GOD!

  3. My love and prayers to all of you. Cassie, I am trying to get up with Josh but couldn't find a number. Now, that you guys will be heading home, I may not need it. So happy about the latest update, an answer to many many prayers. Hope that you feel loving arms around you because Brenda, your school family is praying, sending wishes and knowing that you can feel all of this. Love you guys and am looking forward to being able to give big hugs. Tell Norm, I might even shed another "slip" if it helps in his recovery. Char

  6. We are so happy to hear some good progress with Uncle Norman. Mama has kept us updated daily and now we know about the wonderful blog you created. Tell Uncle Norman that Meghan and Hannah have made very colorful pictures with pumpkins to decorate his walls; however we will wait to send them until we know where he will be. Please let him know we are thinking and praying for a safe return to NC as well as a full recovery. I have friends and family all over NC, in MD, in DC, in MA and in NH sending many prayers. I believe GOD is hearing everyone's prayers as it seems Uncle Norman's spirits are high. You all take care of yourselves too. We love all of you.

  11. Uncle Norman,

    It was a wonderful gift for me to see you & Aunt Brenda at the State Fair (10/20/08). It was great to talk with the both of you & for you to share your excitement about your trip to CA & the relaxtion you were looking forward to getting away from the doctors & hospitals before your treatments in November.

    When Mama called me & told me that you were in the hospital my immediate thought was that you would be fine & would come back home safe. So I have had you in my thoughts & prayers each & every day wishing you a safe & speedy recover so that we can get you back home. God has blessed us with a wonderful miracle today that you are well, stable, healthy, & able to travel which means you can return home. I have sent my blessing for lots of hugs & kisses thru Aunt Brenda, Aunt Betty, and Mama.

    My remaining thoughts have been with Aunt Brenda, Cassie, & Jon that your willpower will allow you to get thru this with the help of your family who loves & cares for you deeply.

    God is full of miracles & his strength allows each one of us to get thru the toughness of times. During your time of trial & suffering, when you only see one set of footprints it is God that is carrying you.
    This prayer of serenity will be carried with you each & every day:
    God grant me the serenity
    to accept the things I cannot change;
    courage to change the things I can;
    and wisdom to know the difference.

    Living one day at a time;
    Enjoying one moment at a time;
    Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
    Taking, as He did, this sinful world
    as it is, not as I would have it;
    Trusting that He will make all things right
    if I surrender to His Will;
    That I may be reasonably happy in this life
    and supremely happy with Him
    Forever in the next.
    Amen.

    My final blessing is for you, Aunt Brenda, Cassie, Jon, & Aunt Betty to have a safe journey back to NC & from Proverbs 3, 5-6

    Trust in the LORD with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
    in all your ways acknowledge him,
    and he will direct your paths.

    With all my love, your niece,
    Angela
